we are so bad

So we have badly neglected this blog. I can feel its technological loneliness crying out. There has been sooo much happening of late.
Well for starters there as the nice container from Germany which left us with literally hundreds of boxes.
We spent a lot of time painting the rooms. But we are almost done. The kids rooms will get a mural in the next couple. days. Virginia some flowers and Alicia wants musical notes and a conductor.
Markus has been successful in getting a job. And it safe to say that he love it. Running a graphic department in a large company. Very nice with a pretty 18 floor office overlooking town, the mountains and the sea.
Last week we all went to Grouse mountain snow shoeing which was just great. We had so much fun. Little Virginian is a natural, she put them on and instantly started to run, jump and do all kinds of crazy things. But her all time favourite thing is to scream as loud as possible trying to make snow fall down from the trees.

more snow

Last nite the police issued a warning to people not to drive or go out unless it was essential. Near out house at least 5 buses got stuck in snow and black ice. It was practically impossible to get up the hill to UBC.

There is so much snow I have no idea where to put it all.

Look at this nice winter driving. Seriously it is pretty bad.

Polar bear swim

We did it. Fitnat and Markus took the plunge into the ice cold waters of English bay. it was great fun we arrived early singed up, watched the fun. Every one was having a great time, load of people dressed up in funny  costumes. Then around 2:30 we all hit the waves.

Emerging form the water you felt actually not that cold. I think the feet were the worst. Only now they are defrosting.

Here is a link to the official Polar bear swim site

Van trivia

1. About bus drivers. At times when the weather is real, bad drivers do not charge for the ride, because they want to pick up as many people as fast as possible. Today our driver called to us at the bus stop: Heh folks I just want to get you out of the cold!
He sang out each stop, wished almost everyone a merry Christmas, made jokes and warned us when getting on or off the bus about the snow. He made the entire bus buzz with happiness. It really brightened up everyone’s day.
We got on his bus around 8 p.m and he had been working since 7.15 a.m. In general drivers here are super friendly.
2. You know that you are on the West coast because no matter what kind of weather people still wear flip flops and shorts. I was just shovelling show when I saw a guy in swim suit driving in his car.

….we got our water back!!! yeah!!!

Snow snow snow again

Temperatures are down and everything is covered with snow. This is quite unusual for Vancouver. Funny seems like almost every day since we arrived the weather was not quite typical Vancouver weather. We had many very warm days and now we have so much snow. It will be a white Christmas for us all here in Vancouver.street near out house our house
